Kollwitzplatz
The center of the Prenzlauer Berg
"Number of available apartments already limited"
The popular residential area Kollwitzplatz is a magnet especially for young families, artists, actors and media people from all over the country and Europe: those who seek a new home here – and find it. There is currently a great demand for privately owned apartments, and since this demand is still growing, the prices range at a higher level.
The location influences the value of an estate, a circumstance, however, which also guarantees the long-lasting maintenance of this value. In the "Tagesspiegel" real estate section one reads about "prices not even the top locations in Charlottenburg can compete with". Moreover, it appears that "directly at Kollwitzplatz the number of available apartments is already limited, and the prices around the Wasserturm are already increasing." "It will be exciting to watch the further development there."
"A place to meet and get to know"
Kollwitzplatz is the culturally rich and family-friendly centre of Prenzlauer Berg. Its charm is particularly due to the fact that its streets are just made for strolling. Magnificent houses built in art nouveau and belle époque styles set the tone of this popular quarter as do the marvellous green spaces.
There is an abundance of things to discover here: historic sites of the period, special art and architecture, small cafes as well as galleries, studios and unique stores.
The Kollwitzplatz oasis itself, with the memorial to Käthe Kollwitz by Gustav Seitz, is particularly inviting, and the adjacent playground is welcomed and always well-attended.
This is a place to meet and get to know – and that, in the middle of the Berlin metropolis.
"A name known even in New York"
Being the centre of events in 1989, Kollwitzplatz, filled the papers of the international press.
Bill Clinton's visit in the year 2000 has made the name of the quarter even bigger.
The area's attraction has grown by the year and provides higher residential quality for both tourists and investors – one of the reasons surely being its centrality.
"A name known even in New York," as the newspaper "Der Tagesspiegel" reported on the district – but you have to be "at the right side, at Kollwitzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg, for example – the place where it's at."
